This will be an Old fashioned Tea Dance - everyone can get up and have a dance if they want to but for those who just want to spectate we have six couples coming do do a few demonstration dances and Tony Kelly will sing and compere the whole afternoon.

Charity Lake Challenge 2012 - A Step In The Right Direction!

SUNDAY FEBRUARY 26TH WALK, RUN OR CYCLE!

It's the New Year... and with "A Step In The Right Direction" you can make every step count!

It's out with the old and in with the new and for your personal "Hat Trick" Get fitter and lose weight, keeping healthy is a great News Year's resolution and you will also be supporting a worthwhile cause!

Now in its 4th year, participants can walk, run or even cycle the route, and it's made even easier with no less than three distances to choose from.

We have 5, 10 and 15km courses for the walkers/runners with 10km and 20km courses along the tracks and trails of the beautiful La Pedrera Resovoir, Torremendo for the cyclists.

All those completing the 20km cycling route and 15km walk will receive a certificate with completed time, so if you took part last year, why not try to improve on your time.

Alternatively if you managed the 5km walk why not try the 10km or even 15km distance?

We had 200 participants last year and this year we would like even more.

You can download a sponsorship form from www.thingstodoinspain.info or collect one at any of the three Paul Cunningham Nurses charity shops in Quesada, Playa Flamenca and La Marina.

We would be delighted if everyone can get sponsorship, however, if this is not possible you can just pay €5.00 registration fee on the day.

For those wishing to take part but not sure of their fitness level there will be running training days at Casa La Pedrera each Monday starting on January 17th - this gives you six weeks to get into good shape and participate with confidence.

The  training sessions will commence at 10.30a.m for the more experienced walkers and at 2.00pm for beginners.

This year we plan to team up with a Cycle Enthusiast who will be on hand to give their expertise with regards to cycling and you will be able to hire a bike should you not have one of your own.

If you belong to a club why not get a group together and take up the challenge?

Members from the La Marina Walking Group have once again volunteered to man the route, which is fantastic news.

Also, there will be a fabulous BBQ afterwards and those lovely ladies to pamper your tired feet.

Last, but not least, should it rain on 26 February the event will be postponed until the following Sunday, 4th March, but please check the Facebook page (Casa La Pedrera Grand Design House) or telephone 660 816 620 beforehand for a final decision as if there is slight spitting the challenge will go ahead!

The fantastic magician Graeme Mykal is there to entertain you and it is just €12 for Cava on arrival a choice of 6 curries, nan and rice and a side dish, complimentary water on the tables and a Free Quiz.

To raise money for the charity we have Play Your Cards Right and a Raffle.

As well as our usual line up of Fabulous Fundraising Events, don't forget to pay a visit to our Charity Shops in Ciudad Quesada, near the famous arches, Playa Flamenca, Beach side of the N332 behind the Post Office, and our NEW shop in La Marina.


The shops are open Mondays to Saturdays 10.00a.m. - 2.00p.m. as always we invite you to come and visit us - you will be made most welcome.  Clothes, books and especially bric a brac needed.  Ladies Clubs or indeed any groups can ask to book a private viewing outside of usual opening hours.

Also available in our Charity Shops is our 'Love Collection' CD, specially created for us by Elite Entertainment.  This CD features all your favourite love songs  sung and played by your favourite local entertainers Infinity, Charles Cole, Ian Smith (Smithy), Lucinda, Ricky Patton, Brian Summers, Maria O'Hara (showgirl), Tony Kelly, Frankie Jones,  Suzanne James and Pat Graham.

The CD is now available at the fantastic price of  €5 with 50% of the profits going to Paul Cunningham Nurses.
